The Council of Presidents consists of the Presidents of the seven MacDubhsith Clan societies and family groups from Scotland, Sweden, Canada, the USA, NZ and Australia as well as a Trustee from the Clan Macfie Trust. It was formed in early 2023 to co-ordinate the efforts to determine a settled name for the Clan and manage the ongoing search for a new Commander and in doing so to promote the Clan worldwide.
The Council is the designated contact point for the Clan with the Lyon Court and will keep Clan members and other interested parties informed about the Clan Commander search.
Each Clan Society and Family group is also obligated to keep their members informed and up-to-date. Preferably members should work through their Society or Family Presidents to convey information related to the Commander search.

The Work of the Council
The Council has the specific objective to search for and identify a Commander candidate or candidates.
Its tasks are to:

Prepare a timeline for Clan members for the process of selecting a suitable nominee for the position of Commander

Communicate eligibility requirements, duties and role of the Commander worldwide via postings on the updated Council website and other sites and publications as appropriate

Encourage all Clan members to review all the information on the process of nominating a Commander

Petition the Lord Lyon for a Family Convention in Scotland once a suitable candidate for Commander has been identified

Submit the name and credentials of suitable candidates for Commander who has been endorsed by Clan members (in person or virtually) at the Family Convention

Submit the selected candidate to the Lyon Court for confirmation.
