Commander Search
The recent Settling of the name, Clan MacDubhsith, allows us to move forward with the worldwide search for a Commander. Please see information and applicable documents below. NOIs (Notices of Intent) for consideration are due 30 November 2025.
Why does the Clan need a Commander?
​The previous Clan Commander, Iain McFie, following many years of service stepped down in 2021. We thank him for his service. The Council of Presidents of our Clan Societies was formed in the Spring of 2023 to lead the process for finding a new Commander.
The primary duty of a Commander is to find a Chief either through a Court-recognised hereditary line or the identification of a candidate for a new Court-
approved hereditary line. This can be a long and detailed process and may not happen under the leadership of one Commander.
The time frame allocated for this process is 5 years. This 5-year period includes the time necessary to convene a Family Convention.
